Bridal Trousseau For the Summer

Getting married is the dream of every girl. Shopping for the wedding trousseau is an even better dream. So dream on then gals and make the most of it. After all it is your day to hog the limelight. Have fun shopping for your wedding clothes but plan them in advance to make it an affordable and enjoyable experience.

By planning and buying you get to choose from a variety without compromising on your tastes and sometimes even good deals could come your way.

Though traditionally Indian wedding trousseau relies on grand designs and dark colours, the trend is moving towards a simpler elegant style in lighter colours.

You witness a lot of pinks, light greens, blues and whites with gold and silver trimmings being worn for the ceremony. However, red and maroon are still preferred for the actually muhurat.

Indian bridal wear comes with a wide choice of fabrics like silk, brocade, tissue, crepes and a lot more.

The good point is since the Indian wedding goes on for three days you could actually try a different look for each occasion.

For the engagement which is quite informal you could choose a lightweight saree like a crepe or chiffon with kundan work in pastel shades. Or you could go for designer silk-cotton which comes in various hues.

For a more contemporary look you can opt for the lacha or the ghagra or lehenga in pink or mauve colours with light gold thread work. This can be worn for even parties a later date.

The actual wedding or muhurtham saree has to be silk, preferably Kanchivaram or Benares. So indulge in that tradition by choosing a maroon or red saree with rich zari. Traditional sarees have a timeless appeal and never go out of fashion.

However, to give that chic look you can wear designer blouse to complement the saree. You stand out through contrast.

Reception is the best of the lot since you can really experiment on both your looks and style. You can choose from designs and textures to give you a classy look. So, you could go for a tissue saree or lehanga in cream or ivory.

Better still opt for a lacha or a ghagra with stone studded or kundan work in dark green, red and maroon colours.

If you are particular about wearing only a saree you could go ahead with brocade or tussar with swaroski crystals stitched into a pattern to give that glamorous and rich look.

The traditional evening colours are dark- royal blue or deep green. But more and more prefer to experiment their reception sarees by choosing pastel shades.

The style can be bold and contemporary. Even the blouses or cholis can be different. You could go for a halter neck or backless even!

Even after the wedding while socializing you could experiment on your dress style. It need not be only Indian wear you could mix and match the Indo-Western styles. So you could top designer kurtis with formal pants complete with a silk scarf or stole. Or you could try out designer salwars with its patialas and afghan styles to look trendy within the confines of tradition.

If you still want to wear sarees, you have a plethora of choices by way of materials. You have the georgettes and chiffons in myriad hues to choose from.

With increasing fashion awareness more brides prefer to hire a designer to design their wedding trousseau. The designers too are more than ready to experiment with style and cut to get that right look - formal mix with trendy.
